What is a Digital Music Download?
Backing tracks downloading is the transmission of a digital file, generally as a MP3 or WMA file, from a website to a personal computer or portable player, commonly known as an MP3 player. You can then transfer these files to MP3 backing tracks players or compatible MP3 digital phones.

What formats of downloads can I buy?
The format of digital files is generally MP3 or WMA. Singsongs.com provide digital downloads in MP3 format.

How long does it take to download backing tracks?
The time required to download backing tracks to your computer will depend on the size of the file (i.e. is it a single or multiple track title) and the speed of your Internet connection or modem.

Typical download times for a 4 minute MP3 track of 3.5MB size are as follows:-
28.8k modem = 20-25 mins
56.6k modem = 10-15 mins

Can downloaded backing tracks be copied or moved from one computer to another?
All backing tracks that are downloaded from singsongs.com are licensed to be downloaded by the purchaser to their computer. The licence does not include transfers to others or their computers.

What am I getting for my money?
Each backing track is produced to the highest quality by professional musicians and producers in modern well-equipped studios. You are also purchasing the right to perform the backing track in public, as we pay the necessary royalties to the MCPS and PRS organisations. Karaoke or backing tracks purchased from other suppliers may not include this right.

What is the quality of the backing tracks?
The tracks are arranged to sound like the original music. Naturally every single nuance, sound or feature of the original cannot be guaranteed but they are professional copies.

The sound quality is fixed at 128 kpbs and the tracks are produced in MP3 format.

Are your tracks created from midi files?
No. The tracks are created from scratch by professionally trained producers using state-of-the-art digital software and hardware in fully equipped studios.

Do the tracks have real instruments on them?
On all of the tracks, the music is played using real instruments or top-quality samples of real instruments.

I just need one or two instruments of a track - what can I do?
We can create a track composed of any of your chosen instruments. Fill in all the necessary details on the contact form. We'll then advise you of the charge and delivery time/date.

I need the track in a different key - can you help?
We can re-arrange a track for your chosen key. Please contact us for details

Do you create custom tracks?
We can create a track to order. Just complete our contact form specifying all your requirements clearly.

Do your tracks have backing vocals on them?
Backing vocals are indicated under the BV column for each song.

USING THE SITE

What do I need to use the site?
You will need the following hardware/software:

Can I hear the backing tracks before I buy it?
Click on the preview button to the right of the track to hear a 30 second sample.

What do the buttons do?
Genre - Takes you to a list of the styles of backing tracks available.
Year - Takes you to a list of the decades of backing tracks available.
Artist - Takes you to an alphabetical or classification search for artists.
Preview - Plays a 30 second sample of the specified track.
Buy - Add the track to your purchases.
Checkout - Go to a summary page of items in your basket.

How do I find the backing tracks I want?
You can search the backing tracks on Singsongs.com in various ways.
- From the homepage you can search the whole site - just type in the desired artist or track name.
- Pressing the 'Genre', 'Year' or 'Artist' buttons takes you to relevant lists of backing tracks
- Pressing the 'Offer' button takes you to our current offers, either compilations of backing tracks or special discounts.

How do I use the site with Popup Blockers installed?
Unfortunately this site will not function properly without the use of popup windows. The preview facility uses a pop-up screen.

If you have a popup blocker installed and wish to use the site, you will need to either turn off your popup blocker, or configure it to work with the site.

To turn off your popup blocker, follow the instructions below:

Do I need an e-mail address to purchase tracks?
Yes this is required for you to receive confirmation of your purchases and details of your downloads.

PLAYING THE BACKING TRACKS

How Do I Download My Backing tracks?
Once you have purchased the tracks you will receive an email giving you a link to your downloads. When you click on each download link you will be asked to save or open. If you choose save, select a location for your backing tracks to be saved to. If you choose open the backing tracks will just play in your preferred backing tracks program.

Can I play the tracks on my MP3 phone?
Yes you can. If you have an internet browser on your phone you will be able to download and play from your chosen location.

If you don't have an internet browser on your phone , you can still download tracks to your PC and then transfer the tracks to the phone. Consult your phone instructions.

Are the tracks protected?
Singsongs.com uses tagging to protect its music.The tagging enabled Singsongs to know from where a file originated. Each MP3 file you download from Singsongs will contain a originators tag. Under our terms and conditions, you agree to not alter, extract, remove or tamper in any way with the tags in files you download from this site.

Copying tracks in such a way that will remove the tags is a breach of Singsongs Backing tracks Ltd copyright.

My download got interrupted! What should I do?
Your downloads remain available for 2 days. You can download them at any time within that period.

How do I burn songs to a CD?
You can burn songs from most backing tracks programs. Generally the procedure is:-
1. Create a new playlist.
2. Add the required songs to this playlist
3. Use the "Copy To CD" or "Burn CD" option from the File menu

What hardware can I play the downloaded backing tracks on?
You either need a computer, a PC or a Macintosh with a sound card or a portable player.

What Media Players can I play the downloads on?
You can play backing tracks on any players that support the MP3 protocol

How do I return or get a refund for a backing tracks download?
The site enables you to preview the backing tracks before you buy and the responsiblility to purchase the correct track lies with the customer. Under our terms and conditions we do not normally issue refunds. In special circumstances we will extend the period of download validity or if there is a fault with the sound reproduction of the track or other technical aspect we will refund or make an alternative available.
